I agree with so much of what you have written here. I sometimes wonder when Medium was planning to open up to the 77 new countries why they didn't consider a form of geoblocking Medium for regions where English isn't the native language.

I realise this would mean English countries couldn't read the articles of the Spanish speakers or Chinese speakers and vice versa, but then it would also have allowed the writers from non-English-speaking countries to be able to write in their native languages and not have to resort to using AI for translations.

All Medium would have had to do is set up and host the platform as Medium.Asia, and keep Medium.com for native English speakers. Again, this idea might affect earnings, but perhaps it would also make the playing or earning field a little more fair?
