I have always loved to read, but I remember the books we were made to study in school were often so boring and explored themes that, as a teen, I couldn't relate to at all.
I remember being given All's Quiet On The Western Front. I still don't think I ever finished it. Whilst I'm sure that book had some important themes and life lessons, getting a teenager to become engaged in a book set in World War 1 wouldn't be easy now either.
I think if perhaps schools gave the kids a choice of three books to choose from and focus on, reading could become more inspiring...
