I think your article speaks a lot to the nature of how judgemental parents can become in general. It’s awful that some with your work and life experience wouldn’t be seen as a valuable source of knowledge and support, I for one would love to have someone like you in my corner to discuss the important topics with.

I remember a situation with my 90 year old grandma when my aunts were telling me to ignore her outdated advice and stop listening to her. This was said at the dinner table in front of her.
She came to me afterwards as we are very close and she said “I may be old and my ideas might seem outdated but I raised four kids and in the end, it doesn’t matter what you do as long as your child feels loved and supported”

That advice has stuck with me.
