This reminds of a situation where my oldest daughter had to get me to battle her school to allow her to read "The Vampire Diaries."

My daughter had always loathed reading as she has a specified learning disorder that makes it far more difficult to decode.

She had watched the tv show and this was the first time in her life she showed interest in reading, at all.

The school wouldn't let her bring it in from home for her allocated reading time as they said the "themes were too adult."

My stance on it was that she had watched the show, she knew the themes and if she shows interest in reading, then I couldn't care less what she chooses, as long as it has words!
