Wow this is so horrible and yet i've been there for a girlfriend of mine who went through something so similar.

She had gone to do the food shopping and all her cards were declined when it came time to pay. when she confronted her husband he tried to assure her everything was a misunderstanding, until she found hundreds of empty coke bags hidden in a drawer.
